How To Keep Files Safe Using TrueCrypt

Written Steps:
Step 1: Open up your preferred web browser.
Step 2: Type “TrueCrypt” into your chosen search engine then select the first result from the list of results.
Step 3: Select the “downloads” tab from the list.
Step 4: Click the “download” button next to the operating system which corresponds with the one you are using.
Step 5: When the program has finished downloading, right click the file then select “Show In Folder.”
Step 6: Double click “TrueCrypt” then select “Run” within the security warning window.
Step 7: Check the tick-box then select “Next.”
Step 8: Select the “install” mode then click “next.”
Step 9: Ensure that all options are selected then click “install.”
Step 10: Select “Finish” then click “No.”
Step 11: Select “Start” then click “TrueCrypt.”
Step 12: In the new window, select “Volumes” then click “Create New Volume…”
Step 13: Keep options as default then select “Next.”
Step 14: Ensure “Standard” option is selected then click “Next.”
Step 15: Click “Select File…“, choose a location, give the file a name then click “Save.”
Step 16: Click “Next.”
Step 17: Leave the options as default then select “Next.”
Step 18: Decide how much space you would like to allocate to the volume then click “Next.”
Step 19: Give the volume a password of your choosing then select “Next.”
It is advised that you use a password with more than 20 letters for security purposes. If you choose not to then click “Yes.”
Step 20: Leave the options as default, wave the mouse around for about 2 minutes then select “Format.”
Step 21: Select “Ok” then click “Exit.”
Step 22: Right click the volume drive letter that you wish to create then click “Select File and Mount.”
Step 23: Locate and select the file that you created during step 16 then double click it or select “Open.”
Step 24: Enter the password that you assigned to the file during step 20 then click “Ok.”
Step 25: Right click the drive you have just mounted then select “Add to favorites…”
Step 26: Check the tickbox labeled as: “Mount selected volume upon logon” then click “Ok.”
The newly mounted drive will be stored under computer. Click the “start” button then select “computer.”
How To Dismount A Volume
Step 1: Re-open TrueCrypt if you closed the window since.
Step 2: Select the volume you wish to dismount and click “Dismount.”
You can re-mount the drive by clicking mount and repeating step 15.
