How To Transfer Your Data To A New Computer Using Windows Easy Transfer

Written Steps:

Step 1: Select Start then All Programs.

Step 2: Click Accessories, System Tools then Windows Easy Transfer.

Step 3: Select Next.

Step 4: Ensure that your USB drive is plugged in then select ‘An external hard disk or USB flash drive‘ option.

Step 5: Select This is my old computer.

Wait for the process to finish. The time will vary depending on the amount of files on the system.

Step 6: Tick the accounts which you would like to transfer the files from.

Step 7: Select Customise and choose which file types you would like to transfer from the accounts which have been ticked.

If necessary, you can select Advanced and choose specifically what files you would or wouldn’t like to be transferred.

Select Save.

Step 8: Click Next.

Step 9: Decide whether you want to set a password for your Easy Transfer File then click Save. I will leave it blank for the purpose of this tutorial.

Step 10: Open the storage device that you wish to save your WET files to then click Save.

Step 11: Wait for the files to be saved then click Next.

Step 12: Click Next then Close.

Restoring the files on another computer:

Step 1: Reopen Windows Easy Transfer by repeating the stage from earlier.

Step 2: Click Next.

Step 3: Select An external hard disk or USB flash drive.

Step 4: Select This is my new computer.

Step 5: Click Yes.

Step 6: Locate the Easy Transfer File which you saved earlier then double click it or select Open.

Step 7: Select Customise and choose which files you would like to transfer to this computer then click Transfer.

Step 8: Wait for the files to finish transferring then select Close.
